Story Behind Fifteen Second Brew
Everything start when back in 2014 me and my family get a trip to our hometown in Takengon Aceh Tengah, at that time i spend a lot of time seeing and visiting coffee farm running by my family, and a week later we visit commercial coffee factory own by my uncle located in Medan Sumatra Utara, i can see a coffee industries is gonna be growing rapidly in Indonesia, then i was right, when i came back to Jakarta i realize a few coffeeshop nearby home is serving a specialty coffee with different brewing method and quite hard to find the dripper like Hario at that time, from that moment i started to digging about manual coffee brewing, like everyone else i start searching on internet about coffee scene in Jakarta, then i found a legendary website like cikopi.com caswell campus and philocoffee, still remember my first dripper is Kono Meimon with brown color and Manual Grinder Porlex, i bought from Philocoffee.
The starting point where i became a Home Brewer in early 2015, i still remember brewing the coffee without scale and timer, but the coffee taste still amazing even though its not consistent in every brew, because a scale specifically made for coffee brewing is quite expensive back then while i still student at uni, not enough money to afford fancy or proper equipment for brewing, and the coffee price is super affordable at that time maybe it twice cheaper if compared to nowadays coffee price, i can finally complete the proper equipment for coffee brewing in 2018, everything i need is on the table and also i started a coffee career as a part time barista since 2016 until 2019 give me a bunch of coffee experience especially about service and hospitality, and also the espresso things made my coffee journey more colorful.
The Name of Fifteen Second Brew
Lot of people and my friends asking about story behind the name of Fifteen Second Brew, well it’s pretty simple actually, back in 2016-2017 ish Instagram had a new feature and still exist to this day, which is Intagram Story, so i had a routine if i brewing the coffee i always made a story for that and it last for 15 second of each story thats the maximum video story lenght we can upload, that is where came from, from fifteen second brew i usually made for instagram story and posted on my personal Instagram Account.
I officially made a specific Instagram Account for Fifteen Second Brew is when the pandemic happens in 2020, so many time we spend just staying at home, nothing to do except brewing coffee, then i think why don’t i made a like coffee journal things on Instagram, adding some things to do at home then become exploring any coffee roaster around the world then i put the content on Instagram, such a good idea, it all running well until 2023, life gets busy day by day, don’t have much time to made a content, but still brewing coffee every single day.
And voila! i made this website to ensure the content i shared is more diverse, there’s a blog post may i will separate or made a categories like, events, competition, review coffee, new tools etc. it’s more easy to manage i think, and also i can sell my coffee products here, like all in one solution.
